Remote shutter release cable

A remote shutter release cable allow us to take pictures witout toutching the camera, this avoids creating vibrations when we touch the camera to shoot.
This is quite simple, most Canon machines has a 2.5mm input stereo jack (with 3 conductors) for connecting a remote trigger, works as an electric switch.
According to the scheme below, when the wire X comes into contact with Z the camera will shoot, Y with Z makes focus. It's possible to simulate the camera button, half click to focus and full click to shoot.

If the objective was set to focus, the camera will always focus before shoot.
It's desirable to have a switch that maintain contact with X-Z to take advantage of the camera "Bulb" mode.
This is possible because the camera has a jack plug for this purpose, some models has a different plug.

Improvising

With a clip or the ring of soda can we can improvise something to work as a switch

Components:
- A cable with 3 wires (2 at least)
- One or two press buttons, for focus and shutter
- One switch, when in bulb mode
- 2.5mm Jack connector

For better result you can put all elements into a box or similar.

Boxing it

For the first tests I started to mount a device using two plastic stoppers

The design was not the better, I resolve to put in something better to hold on hands, like a tube and after that I turn it more fancy with a retro filme label.
