Sunset in Torre de Belém
A Torre de Belém ou a Torre de São Vicente é uma torre fortificada localizada na freguesia de Santa Maria de Belém, no município de Lisboa, Portugal. É um Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO (junto com o Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) por causa do papel importante que desempenhou nas descobertas marítimas portuguesas na época da época dos Descobrimentos. A torre foi encomendada pelo rei D. João II para ser parte de um sistema de defesa, na foz do rio Tejo e uma passagem cerimonial para Lisboa.
A torre foi construída no início do século 16 e é um exemplo proeminente do estilo manuelino Português, mas também incorpora sugestões de outros estilos arquitectónicos. A estrutura foi construída a partir de calcário lioz e é composto de um reduto com 30 m (100 pés) e quatro andares.

Belém Tower or the Tower of St Vincent is a fortified tower located in the civil parish of Santa Maria de Belém in the municipality of Lisbon, Portugal. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (along with the nearby Jerónimos Monastery) because of the significant role it played in the Portuguese maritime discoveries of the era of the Age of Discoveries. The tower was commissioned by King John II to be part of a defense system at the mouth of the Tagus river and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. The tower was built in the early 16th century and is a prominent example of the Portuguese Manueline style, but it also incorporates hints of other architectural styles.
